Week 23. So far this past two weeks I have spent 5 days on the boat. Activity has included removing the forward heads, removing associated thru-hull fittings and epoxy filling holes. Also learnt to glass fibre over the epoxied holes to add strength. Its a bit like plastering, looks simple but needs confidence and speed. Finished off the refurbishment of the helm including new cables and bearings and now awaiting a new Lewmar wheel with a clutch to add less load on the autopilot. Made a pad for the new windlass in the anchor locker and drilled new holes for chain and wiring. Stripped the anchor locker and "Gel Coated" it. Had a lot of help with preparing this mixture and it all looked like alchemy to me but the result is fantastic. Second coat this coming weekend and I will then be in a position to mount the windlass. All the time my wife has persevered with making the bilges like new. She has been at it for 4 months now! Respect!
